Privacy Policy

Booklegend is built by Squirrelhog Pty Ltd (ABN 83 659 968 439), an Australian-owned company based in Sydney (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Our approach is simple: we collect what the app needs to work, and nothing we would have to apologise for.

What we collect

• Account details. Your email address, and a display name if you provide one. Sign-in is handled by Clerk; your password is held by Clerk, never by us.
• Your reading data. The series and authors you follow, reading status, ownership, wishlist, ratings and any notes you add. This is what powers your library and Up Next.
• Notification settings. Your per-channel consent and, if you enable push notifications, a device push token so we can send the release alerts you asked for.
• Subscription status. Whether you have an active Pro subscription, managed through RevenueCat and the App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your card details.
• Contributions. Any series suggestions or data corrections you submit.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not show advertising or run a social feed.
• We do not collect your precise location.
• We do not store payment card numbers — those stay with Apple, Google and RevenueCat.

How we use it

To run the app: keep your library in sync, work out what is up next, and send the release notifications you opt into. We use aggregate, non-identifying information to understand which features are used and to keep the app stable.

Who we share it with

We use a small set of trusted providers who process data only on our instructions:

• Clerk — authentication.
• RevenueCat, Apple and Google — subscriptions and in-app purchases.
• Expo — delivery of push notifications.
• MongoDB Atlas — secure database hosting.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Delete account). This permanently removes your data from our systems and deletes your sign-in record. You can also email us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information.

Children

Booklegend is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
